We are currently looking for a Regular, Full time, Exempt employee for the role of Web Content Manager in our Digital Content Department. 

Position Summary: 

BioNews is seeking a web content manager who will be responsible for the display, design, and optimization of content across our digital platforms. On a daily basis, this person will work with managers, editors, and the analytics department to ensure all content, from news to surveys to multimedia, is published and displayed properly on sites.

Our ideal candidate will be savvy about web traffic and know how to use metrics to maximize content performance. He or she will be driven to become knowledgeable on topics of particular interest to readers and will take a proactive approach in identifying stories with potential to resonate with them. He or she should be a strong wordsmith who is adept at both writing and editing.

Pensacola, Florida: Candidates who can work out of the corporate office in Pensacola or who are willing to relocate are preferred for this position. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage the curation of content across BioNews digital platforms
  • Work closely with the analytics team to develop strategies for improving content performance to drive traffic and increase engagement
  • Monitor daily traffic to determine how content is performing
  • Work with managers and editors on creating special packages and collections as needed
  • Manage homepage and menu bar navigation/organization
  • Work across divisions on publication of all types of content, including news stories, columns, surveys, multimedia, etc., to ensure consistency and proper placement and treatment.
  • Create and maintain categories and templates as needed
  • Write cutlines, subheads, and page and collection descriptions as needed.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure sites are operational and displaying content correctly; work closely with IT and ad ops to resolve issues.
  • Moderate reader comments on sites.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or journalism or related field, or equivalent relevant experience

Experience Required:

  •  3-5 years’ experience in web content management, preferably for a digital media company 

Experience Preferred:

  • 1-2 years’ experience as a writer or copy editor preferred
  • Some experience with web development/coding a plus

Skills Required:

  • Highly proficient in management of digital content
  • Knowledge of SEO and metrics tools (Google Analytics, ChartBeat) and best practices for content optimization
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficient in WordPress
  • Strong news judgment a plus
